How to use Essential Oils
Three Ways to Use Essential Oils
Smelling the oil; either straight from the bottle, diffusing or placing a drop in the palms of your hands.
The reason this is so effective is that in your nose you have an olfactory nerve. When you smell this nerve sends messages to the limbic system in your brain, which in turn sends messages all over the body. The fastest way to get essential oils into your system is by breathing them in. This can happen in as little as 30 seconds, making aromatically experiencing the oils very effective.
Please note: don’t put essential oils in an oil burner as this will burn off the medicinal healing properties of the oil. Always use a diffuser as it doesn’t use heat but rather breaks essential oils down into smaller molecules, dispersing them into the air.
The second way to use essential oils is topically. It’s a great way to get oils into your system fast. You can apply the oils directly to the skin or apply with a carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil.
For children and people with sensitive skin, you’ll want to always dilute the oils with fractionated coconut oil.
A great place to apply oils is to the bottoms of your feet, the pores on the bottom of your feet are really big and the oil absorbs very quickly into the bloodstream.
Please note: there are some hot oils that you cannot apply neat.
The third way to use essential oils is internally. These essential oils are not only safe to use internally, but they are also recommended. The CPTG standard means these oils are a medicinal-grade and are completely safe to ingest – unlike most other brands. You can put a drop in your mouth or drink them in water. If you don’t like the taste, put them in a veggie capsule.
In my own health journey over the years, I’ve come to appreciate the value of natural solutions. The more we can do that is both good for the earth and good for our bodies, the better! I would love to teach you more about how to use one of my favourite natural solutions, essential oils, to feel better and live well.
Please note: not all of doTerra essential oils are for internal ingestion as some may contain plant oils that are not safe to ingest. Hotter oils will always need to be placed in a capsule. There is a recommended daily limit to ingestion.
